FAQ

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO YOU BOOK?

While we typically book 12-16 months in advance, you’re welcome to contact us at any time to check our availability.

WHAT’S THE PURPOSE OF THE CONSULTATION?

It’s important for you to get to know your photographer and it’s important for us to get to know you, too. At the consultation we will answer all your questions but also make sure that we are the right fit for each other and share the same vision for your wedding day coverage.

WHERE ARE CONSULTATIONS?

All our consultations take place at a Starbuck near you. Skype/Facetime consultations are available for those who are out of town.

CAN YOU OR SHOULD YOU BOOK AT THE CONSULTATION?

While booking at the time of consultation is not mandatory, it’s important to remember that a consult does NOT secure your date - the only thing that officially secures your date is a signed contract and a retainer. We suggest booking your consult during a timeframe when you think you’d be ready to book, should you meet the right photographer.

HOW LONG WILL THE SECOND SHOOTER STAY?

They start with enough time to cover the package description and stay as long as we’re there.

WILL YOU HAVE AN ASSISTANT?

Possibly. Whether there’s a second photographer hired or not, we may choose to bring an assistant with us if we feel we may need extra help with gear or lighting at our discretion.

HOW MANY PICTURES WILL I GET?

The average full day wedding with two photographers, yields around 800 images and a one-hour engagement session will yield around 60. A good rule of thumb is about 80-120 per hour of active shooting.
Keep in mind that the number of images is depending on how long we have for photos, the amount of details there are to capture, how willing your guests are to be photographed during candid moments, how many photographers are present, how versatile your photography location is and on the amount of travel time during the day.

CAN I HAVE THE RAW FILES?

RAW files are not for sale; all clients receive high resolution JPEG images with personal print releases.

COLOR OR BLACK AND WHITE?

We use our discretion as to whether we process an image in color or black and white. Some things just don’t look good in color but black and white is breathtaking. Approximately 90-95% of the images are in color and about 5-10% are in black and white, at our discretion.

WHAT IS YOUR TURNAROUND TIME?

Turnaround time is based on seasonal workload but a good estimate is 5 weeks for a wedding and 1 week for an engagement.

HOW MUCH IS THE DEPOSIT?

To hold your date, a 15% non-refundable retainer is required. Another 30% non-refundable retainer is required at mid-point during our relationship and the remaining balance due 1 week before the wedding.

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

We accept credit cards, checks and Online payments...

WHAT IS “GETTING READY” COVERAGE?

The exact time your “getting ready” coverage starts depends on when you plan on leaving for your ceremony (or first look, depending on if you’re doing one or not). Getting ready coverage can include hair and makeup coverage, getting into your wedding garments, and all the beautiful candid moments in between.

CAN WE CUSTOMIZE OUR PACKAGE?

We are certainly open to customizing packages if you need more or less coverage than our current packages have. There is a minimum rate for our services however and packages are designed in such a way that our largest packages offer the best discount.

CAN I SAVE MONEY BY REMOVING THE ENGAGEMENT SESSION?

The engagement session, as stated in the package description, is genuinely complimentary. You can opt not to take advantage of the free session (but really, it’s FREE so why would you pass it up?) but there is no change in the cost of the package if you remove them.

DO YOU OFFER ELOPEMENT PACKAGES?

Yes, we do!

CAN I BOOK JUST AN ENGAGEMENT SESSION?

Yes you can, a la carte engagement sessions are available.

HOW MUCH “PHOTOSHOPPING” DO YOU DO?

We are documentary photographers - REAL life is what inspires us, not to mention - we love you the way you look and your spouse does too. Editing consists of colour correction, brightness adjustments, toning, highlight/ shadow adjustments and the application of our exclusive colour profile to give the photos that rich appearance. We do not include skin touchups, object removal, body contouring or other special edits as part of normal editing as part of our included services. If you are interested in magazine style retouching, a quote can be provided.

CAN I PRINT MY PHOTOS MYSELF?

Absolutely - you sure can! All of our clients are given a personal print release, this means that they can do whatever they want with their photos for personal purposes, like making prints!
